Wrongful Death Lawsuit
Jury Awards $1.8 million Award
In December 1999, the parents of a 17-year old Burley girl, represented by Breck Seinger, were awarded $1.8 million in a wrongful death lawsuit against the Idaho Department of Correction and the owner of a car wash.
The jury agreed with the parents of the young girl that the 1996 murder by convicted killer, Corey Hood while on probation and under the state’s supervision, was a wrongful death attributeable, in part, to the state’s inadequate supervision and the negligence of the car wash.
The wrongful death lawsuit verdict came after 5 hours of jury deliberation. eight days of trial and more than two and a half years since the wrongful death lawsuit was filed.
